A new beginning

By SP Scuba Diving Club
Yesh, today i looked for Uncle Mark and Wai Tuck for some conselling on whether i should attend 2 churchs. Mark told me that i should be at the giving-end and not the receiving-end, thus i should stay in my own church since i can only receive when i go for city harvest church. Giving-end means i do and spread the word of God and receiving-end means i listen to the word from others. However, Wai tuck told me that i should go to the church that i feel leads me closer to God, which i think it is city harvest. So its 1 for 1.. wow. Hard decision to make. They both told me also that it is ultimately my choice on which church i want to go to. I'm confused, help me o Lord...
I asked my mum, she said that i should stay in my own church since its "weaker" in the sense of power than city harvest. If all the powerful ones go to the powerful churches, the weaker ones would never rise up. So if i dont stay in my church, it would not grow stronger.
I am in a dilema... How Lord? please talk to me.

Hey, I just came across your blog by chance when I searched for "City Harvest Church". Anyway to answer your questions, I was like you, probably 8 months ago, stuck between two churches, you can actually check out the stories in my blog, http://aaronljx.milkteeth.net

So anyway, my perception is simple, being in the right church is very important, bible clearly states those who are planted in a church will grow. Moving on...

First point to consider, search your heart, let there be an open mind. What is your motive of going over to City Harvest? Is it because of the music? the people? the preaching? or really the church is preaching sound doctrine? This is a very important point to examine, many charismatic churches today preached about "Prosperity" gospel, if you do some google about it, you will know the danger behind it. But I believe City Harvest though put emphasis on our earthly prosperity, they are aligned on God, this is a very controversial thing and I don't have any point of refute but so far I think City Harvest is alright in the issue of prosperity preaching. Sound doctrine if you read in 1 Timothy the epistles, it actually talks about preaching that promotes godliness and righteousness. It's important to be in a church who is longing to be regenerated by the Holy Spirit unto the righteousness and holiness of Christ.

Thirdly, did you acknowledge your leaders at your current church about you stuck between two churches? If you do, they being your leaders who are mentoring you should receive some 'insights' from God that your season at your current church has over and time to move on to a new church where He will raise you up to be leader for Jesus. So it's important for confirmation from your leaders.

Fourth, one thing you must know is, God can speak to you regardless of which church you attend as long they are preaching sound doctrine, we don't measure a church success by the numbers of people attending, how much charity they have done but rather we look into God's perspective as in how many souls have been transformed to be more and more like Jesus? The ultimate work of discipleship and regeneration work of the Holy Spirit is to transform us to be like Christ and perfected on the day of His return.

So how do you measure then the work of regeneration? Self-denial, people should turn their focus on themselves to God. What God wants them to do, a mentality that is important in a believer who is actively regenerated.

So I beseech you brother in Christ that you conduct a care study first before making any haste decision, I am not against City Harvest Church, in fact I am attending and planted in this church but previously I made the wrong decision out of a wrong intentions and motives. So don't repeat my mistake. Study carefully, pray and seek God, wait on Him. Sometimes it takes months before you receive the final confirmation from God.

I will be praying for you and hope you will eventually find the Truth.

Something to say?
